Free AI Interview Copilot in 2026: What You Actually Get for Free

October 21, 2026
Which AI interview copilots are really free in 2026? Free minutes, sessions and plans compared across nine tools, with the limits each vendor states and what a free tier can and cannot cover.

Short answer: yes, you can try an AI interview copilot for free, but not for a whole interview. The free tiers I found on nine vendors' own sites on October 17, 2026 give you 10 to 15 minutes at a time, a small pool of minutes, or a free plan with some features locked. That is enough to find out whether the tool hears you and the interviewer on your setup. It is usually not enough to cover a real 45 to 60 minute interview.

Disclosure: this page is published by yestotheoffer, and yestotheoffer is one of the nine tools. Every tool is judged on the same criteria, and where a competitor gives you more for free than we do, the article says so. Free offers change often, so confirm on the vendor's page.

"Not stated" means the page I opened did not say. A free plan that covers preparation is different from a free live session, so the last row matters if you want live help.

Who gives the most for free

It depends on what you count.

If you count the number of separate tries, Verve AI and CoPilot Interview give you the most: three 15-minute sessions every month on Verve AI's free plan, and 15 minutes every day on CoPilot Interview. CoPilot Interview's daily limit means you can test on several days in a row without paying.

If you count total minutes in one pool, yestotheoffer's 30 minutes is the largest single number in the table. You decide how to use them, for example one 20-minute test call and a 10-minute dry run of a coding screenshot. LockedIn AI's interview copilot page lists 10 minutes of live help on its Free plan, while its homepage only says free to start.

If you count live interview help for a real interview, none of them gives you a full interview for free. Final Round AI says so directly: its free plan covers preparation and live sessions need a paid plan.

What a free tier is good for

A free session is a test, and these are the tests worth running.

  1. Does it hear the interviewer? Join a test call with a friend and check that the other person's words appear in the transcript. Use the same headphones you will use in the interview.
  2. How long is the delay? Ask a question and watch how long the suggestion takes. A suggestion that lands after the conversation has moved on does not help you.
  3. Does it work with your meeting app? Test the one you will actually use: Zoom, Google Meet or Teams. See the compatibility guide.
  4. Does it use your resume? Put in a resume and a job description and see whether the suggestions mention your own projects.
  5. Does it handle your language and accent? Speak as you will in the interview. For non-English interviews, check the language list first.
  6. If coding matters, try a screenshot of a problem on the platform you expect.

What free usually does not cover

  • A full-length interview. A 10 or 15 minute session ends before the interview does. Plan how you would continue, or do not rely on the tool for the whole call.
  • Premium models or features. Several vendors keep the stronger models, the coding mode or long sessions for paid plans.
  • Saved history. Check whether free sessions are saved and for how long.

If you decide to pay after testing, prices are in AI interview assistant pricing in 2026. For pay-as-you-go details at yestotheoffer, see the pricing page.

A way to test two or three tools without wasting the free minutes

Free sessions are short, so spend them on the questions that decide the choice. One workable plan:

  1. Day one: install the tool and run a two-minute check with a friend. Only look at whether the interviewer's voice appears in the transcript. If it does not, stop and fix the audio setup before using any minutes on answers.
  2. Day two: use a free session for a mock call with a real job description and your resume. Read the suggestions the way an interviewer would hear them. Are they specific to you, or generic?
  3. Day three: test the delay and the layout while a call is running. A suggestion window that covers the meeting app is a problem even if the answers are good.
  4. Day four: repeat step two on the second tool and compare notes. Write down the delay in seconds and the number of suggestions that mentioned your own experience.

Tools with a daily or monthly allowance (CoPilot Interview, Verve AI) fit this plan best. A single pool of minutes (yestotheoffer) fits if you keep each test short. A single 10-minute session (ParakeetAI, OphyAI) is a one-shot test, so prepare the call before you start it.

Cards, refunds and what happens when you upgrade

A free tier is only free if you can leave it without a surprise. Before you start, check three things on the vendor's page: whether a card is needed, whether a trial turns into a paid plan on its own, and what the refund policy says. From the pages opened for our pricing comparison: Final Round AI says monthly plans, renewals and upgrades are non-refundable. CoPilot Interview offers a 14-day guarantee on the first payment if you used less than 30 minutes of live time. LockedIn AI says refunds are not available on lifetime plans once the first session starts. These policies change, so read the current page.

A lower first payment can also hide a higher renewal. If a plan shows a discounted first month, find the second-month price before you subscribe.

Free preparation tools are a different thing

Some tools are free because they only help you prepare: resume parsing, question lists, practice prompts. They do not listen to a live call. That is useful, but it is not what a live copilot does, so do not count it as a free copilot. If your goal is practice, the free tiers of Final Round AI and the practice modes at Verve AI and ParakeetAI are closer to what you want. yestotheoffer does not have a practice mode today.

We are honest about where we are weaker: yestotheoffer has no mock-interview mode, no mobile app and a smaller user base than the larger names. If you want free mock interviews, Verve AI and Parakeet AI list them. Details are in the Verve AI review and the Parakeet AI review.

Rules and privacy

A free tool is still a tool that listens to a call. Many employers and assessment platforms forbid outside help during an interview, and some say so in the invitation. Nothing here promises that a tool cannot be noticed. Read the instructions you were given and ask the recruiter if you are not sure.

Also read the privacy page before you upload a resume to a free tool. For yestotheoffer, your resume, knowledge-base documents and desktop interview history are stored on your own computer and can be viewed or deleted. To generate suggestions, relevant text, screenshots and resume details are sent to AI model providers, and live audio is streamed for transcription. We do not store audio.
