Interview Coder is the best known name in AI help for coding interviews, and also one of the most expensive. People searching for a review usually want three things answered: what it actually does, whether the $299 a month or $799 lifetime price makes sense, and what else they could use. This review answers those using Interview Coder's own site as of October 17, 2026. We make a competing product, YesToTheOffer, so read the comparison with that in mind. We say where Interview Coder is the better choice.
The short version
| What it is | A desktop app for Windows and Mac that watches a coding problem on your screen, listens to the interview, and suggests solutions and answers |
| Price | Free download with no AI features. Monthly Pro at $299 a month for 1,000 usage credits. Lifetime Pro at $799 once |
| Free trial | None mentioned. The site says AI features need a subscription |
| Platforms | Windows and Mac |
| Good for | Engineers with a long run of technical interviews who want one tool built around LeetCode-style rounds |
| Less good for | Anyone with a handful of interviews, and anyone who mostly faces behavioral or non-coding rounds |
What Interview Coder does
The site describes a desktop app that supports "all kinds of interviews" and lists LeetCode-style coding, system design, and behavioral interviews among them. Features it names:
- Audio support for real-time guidance, so it hears the question and suggests an answer
- Solutions for coding problems captured from the screen
- "Most powerful fine tuned AI models," without saying which
- 24/7 support on the paid plans
- A list of "20+ undetectability features," including staying out of the dock, the activity monitor, and screen recordings
It also lists the meeting and coding platforms it says it works with: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Amazon Chime, Cisco Webex, Lark/Feishu, HackerRank, CoderPad, and Codility.
The product started as a coding tool, and the site still leads with coding. The system design and behavioral support are listed as interview types but not described in detail, so we can't say how deep they go.
What Interview Coder costs
Checked October 17, 2026, on interviewcoder.co. All prices in US dollars.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free Download | $0 | The app, without the AI features |
| Monthly Pro | $299 a month (crossed-out $499) | 1,000 usage credits a month, audio support, all interview types, 24/7 support |
| Lifetime Pro | $799 once (crossed-out $1,598) | Unlimited lifetime access and the same feature list |
Three things the page doesn't make clear:
- What one credit buys. The page says 1,000 credits a month but doesn't say how many credits a question, a screenshot, or a minute of audio costs. Without that, you can't work out how many interviews a month gets you.
- Refunds. There's a link to a refund policy, but the terms aren't on the pricing section. Read it before paying $799.
- Whether the Lifetime plan really is one payment. It's labeled one-time, but the same card says "Cancel anytime," which usually describes a subscription. Ask support if it matters to you.
What the lifetime plan actually costs you
$799 divided by $299 is about 2.7 months. If your search lasts three months or more, Lifetime is cheaper than Monthly. If it lasts six weeks, you've paid $799 for something a $299 month would have covered. Most people don't know how long a search will take when they start, which is the gamble.
Is Interview Coder free?
You can download and open it for free, but the site says the AI features need a subscription. So the free version is a way to see the interface, not to run an interview with help. There is no free trial of the paid features mentioned.
Where Interview Coder is the stronger choice
- Coding depth. It was built around LeetCode-style problems and has been at it longer than most. If every round you face is a live coding round, that focus matters.
- Platform coverage. The list of supported meeting and coding platforms is long, and includes Codility and Lark, which many competitors don't mention.
- One flat price for heavy use. If you really do interview several times a week for months, $299 a month or $799 once can beat paying per minute.
Where it falls short
- Price for a normal search. Most people have five to ten interviews spread across two or three months. $299 a month is more than a year of some competitors' annual plans.
- Opaque credits. You don't know what 1,000 credits buys until you're inside the app.
- Marketing built on being hidden. The site puts "undetectable" front and center. Being hidden from screen sharing doesn't make use allowed. Many employers ban AI help in live rounds, and some ask you to confirm that in writing. We cover this in is using an AI interview assistant cheating.
How YesToTheOffer compares
We make YesToTheOffer, so weigh this section accordingly. It's a desktop app for macOS and Windows that transcribes the interviewer's questions, drafts answer points from your resume and the job description, and gives coding help from screenshots of the problem. After the interview you get a transcript and a review.
| Interview Coder | YesToTheOffer | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $299 a month or $799 once | $9.99 for 90 minutes, $29.99 for 240 minutes. No subscription |
| Free | Download only, no AI features | 30 free minutes |
| Billing | 1,000 credits a month, value per credit not stated | Per minute. Coding-only help costs 0.2 minutes per minute, so 90 minutes covers up to 450 minutes of screenshot help |
| Do unused minutes expire? | Monthly credits reset | No |
| Coding help | Yes, its core strength | Yes, from screenshots |
| Behavioral and other rounds | Listed as supported | Answer points from your resume and job description |
| Review afterward | Not described | Transcript and post-interview review |
| Platforms | Windows and Mac | macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows |
| Mock interviews | Not described | None |
Where Interview Coder wins: a coding-first design and a longer platform list. Where YesToTheOffer wins: cost for a normal search, since ten one-hour coding interviews would use about 120 minutes at the 0.2x rate, which fits inside two $9.99 packs. Neither tool has a mock interview mode, so if you want practice interviews, look at Final Round AI or Verve AI instead.

Who should buy Interview Coder
- You're an engineer with technical interviews booked several times a week for months, and the coding round is the one you worry about.
- You've read the refund policy and asked what a credit buys.
- The companies interviewing you allow AI tools, or you plan to use it for practice sessions on your own.
Who should look elsewhere
- You have a few interviews spread over a couple of months. Pay per minute or per session instead.
- Your interviews are mostly behavioral, case, or product rounds, where a coding-first tool adds little.
- You want mock interviews with feedback. Interview Coder's site doesn't describe one.
Check the rules first
Whatever tool you pick, read the interview instructions. Some employers now say explicitly that AI assistance in live rounds is grounds for withdrawing an offer. The safest uses are practice on your own, preparing answers from your own experience, and reviewing the transcript afterward. Our AI interview copilot guide explains how to prepare so the answers sound like you.
