AI mock interview tools let you practice answering interview questions out loud or in writing and get feedback without scheduling a person. They range from a single question with feedback to a live voice conversation where the AI asks follow-ups. This guide compares the main ones using each tool's own site as of October 9, 2026, and says what to look for. We make YesToTheOffer, which is a live interview assistant and does not have a mock interview mode, so we say plainly where it fits.

Three kinds of tool
Most products fall into one of three groups, and the group tells you more than the brand does.
- Question, answer, feedback. You get a question, answer it, and receive written feedback, often on structure such as STAR (situation, task, action, result). It's cheap and good for building answers. Interviews by AI and the text mode in OphyAI work this way.
- A live AI interviewer. You talk, the AI listens and asks follow-up questions, and you get a debrief. It feels closer to the real thing. Final Round AI, Interview Sidekick, and Verve AI describe this.
- Video and delivery coaching. You're recorded and scored on how you come across. Big Interview and Yoodli sit here.
A fourth option is a human, either a peer on Pramp or an experienced engineer on interviewing.io. It costs more time or money and gives the most realistic pressure.
The tools in detail
Final Round AI
Its mock interview page describes a voice session against a "Goal" that holds your target role, company, job description, and resume. There are eight scenario types: general, coding, system design, behavioral, product case, data and machine learning, salary negotiation, and recruiter screen. The page says the interviewer tracks the structure and clarity of your answers as you speak, so follow-up questions stay closer to a real interview, and each session ends with a debrief that flags your weakest moments as things to redo. It lists support for 143 languages and accents. Sessions require a plan.
Interview Sidekick
Its site describes voice-to-voice mock interviews with a live AI interviewer, in record-and-review and live formats, plus video interviews in its desktop app and Chrome. Questions come from real interview datasets and are tailored to company, role, seniority, and job description. It lists a question bank of more than 10,000 real questions from over 150 companies, AI grading on every answer, and a dashboard that tracks clarity, structure, and impact across sessions. Read our Interview Sidekick review for pricing.
OphyAI
OphyAI offers practice in text or voice, with the first session free. On paid plans, later sessions cost 10 credits for text and 15 for voice. The free plan has a one-time 5-credit grant that covers one session capped at 15 minutes. See our OphyAI review.
Verve AI
Verve AI lists AI mock interviews as practice on question banks from top companies with an interactive AI interviewer. The free plan includes 5 sessions and paid plans are unlimited. See our Verve AI review.
Interviews by AI
You paste a job description and the tool generates behavioral and technical questions. You answer by audio or text with a 3-minute timer. It gives feedback built on frameworks like STAR plus a stronger sample answer, and its site says audio is deleted right after transcription. The free plan is 3 questions a month. Pro is $9 a month with unlimited questions and resume upload.
Yoodli
Yoodli is built around AI roleplay on video, and many of its example scenarios are about sales and customer conversations. Its pricing page lists a free Starter plan with 5 lifetime roleplays, Pro at $8 a month billed annually with up to 10 roleplays a week, and Advanced at $20 a month billed annually with unlimited roleplays. It says no refunds are offered on cancellation. It's a better fit for communication practice than for role-specific technical questions.
Big Interview
Big Interview has you record answers in an interview simulator, then gives AI feedback on delivery and clarity. It adds 170 video lessons and an answer builder. Pricing on its page is $39 for one month, $99 for three months, or $299 for lifetime access, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
interviewing.io and Pramp
interviewing.io runs anonymous mock interviews with experienced engineers by audio and chat in a shared editor, and offers a free AI interviewer with problems from a published book. Our interviewing.io guide has the details. Pramp, now Aced Practice, is free and matches you with a peer for a 30 to 45 minute video session where you take turns interviewing each other.
What happened to Google Interview Warmup
Google's free Interview Warmup tool no longer works. Its old web address returns a not-found page, and the Grow with Google page that used to describe it now redirects to a general interview tips article. Third-party blogs report that Google retired it in April 2026, but we haven't found an official announcement. See our guide to alternatives to Google Interview Warmup.
How to choose
| What you need | Start with |
|---|---|
| Free practice to build answers | Interviews by AI, the free sessions on Verve AI or OphyAI, or Pramp |
| Realistic voice interview with follow-ups | Final Round AI, Interview Sidekick, or Verve AI |
| Technical depth from an expert | interviewing.io |
| Practice speaking and delivery on video | Yoodli or Big Interview |
| Cheapest for one interview | A free tier, then pay for one month only if you need more |
Whatever you pick, a few habits matter more than the tool:
- Practice aloud. Saying an answer is a different skill from thinking it through.
- Use a real job description so the questions match what you'll face.
- Read the feedback and write down the one thing to change before the next session.
- Repeat the same question until the answer is short and specific.
Where YesToTheOffer fits
We make YesToTheOffer, so weigh this accordingly. It's an interview assistant for macOS and Windows with a web app that listens to a live interview, drafts answers from your resume and the job description, and keeps a transcript and review afterward. It does not have a mock interview mode where an AI plays the interviewer, so it isn't a replacement for the tools above. Pricing is per minute with no subscription: $29.99 for 240 minutes, $59.99 for 600, and $99.99 for 1,200, and new accounts get 30 free minutes. See our guide to mock interviews versus real-time interview assistants for how the two kinds of tool work together.
Check the rules first
Practice tools are the safest use of AI in the interview process. Using an assistant in a live interview or an assessment is a different matter, because many employers ban it and some ask you to confirm you won't. Read the instructions you were given before using any tool in a real interview.
