Google Interview Warmup was a free practice tool from Google where you chose a field, answered questions aloud, and saw your answers transcribed. It no longer works. This guide explains what happened and lists free replacements, checked on their own sites on October 9, 2026. We make YesToTheOffer, which isn't a mock interview tool, so we say where it fits.
What happened to Google Interview Warmup
Two of Google's own addresses show the change. The tool's old web address now returns a not-found page, and the Grow with Google page that used to describe it redirects to a general article about preparing for an interview. We haven't found an official announcement. Third-party blogs report that Google retired the tool in April 2026, but treat that date as unconfirmed.
The article it now redirects to is useful in itself. It covers researching the company, understanding the role, preparing questions to ask, and using the STAR method for behavioral questions.
What Warmup did, so you know what to replace
Based on third-party descriptions, you picked an industry track, answered questions one at a time by speaking, and got a transcript with simple feedback such as the words you used most. It didn't have a live interviewer asking follow-ups. That makes the simplest replacements very close to it.
Free alternatives that work now
| Tool | What you get free | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Interviews by AI | 3 questions a month | Paste a job description, answer by audio or text with a 3-minute timer, get STAR-based feedback and a sample answer |
| Verve AI | 5 AI mock interviews | An interactive AI interviewer on question banks from top companies |
| OphyAI | One practice session (15 minutes) from a one-time 5-credit grant | Text or voice with a transcript and per-answer feedback |
| Yoodli | 5 lifetime roleplays | Video roleplay with AI personas |
| interviewing.io | A free AI interviewer | Coding and system design problems from a published book |
| Pramp (Aced Practice) | Free peer practice | Video session with another candidate, 30 to 45 minutes, roles swap |
These limits come from each tool's own site. Free tiers change, so check before you plan around one. Our guide to AI mock interview tools compares the paid options too.
Using a general chatbot instead
You can also practice with a general AI chat assistant by describing the role, asking it to interview you one question at a time, and answering aloud. It's flexible and costs nothing on a free tier. What you give up is a structured question bank, a score, and a saved history. If you try it, give it the job description, ask for one question at a time, and ask it to critique your answer against the STAR structure after each one.
How to get the most from free practice
- Start with a real job description, not a generic role.
- Answer aloud, and keep each answer under two minutes.
- After each answer, write one change you'll make.
- Repeat the question you did worst on until the answer is short and specific.
- Do a final run with a person or a timed session, so you feel some pressure.
Practice on the questions people get most: our guides on tell me about yourself, behavioral versus traditional questions, and how to ace an interview are good starting points.
Where YesToTheOffer fits
We make YesToTheOffer, so weigh this accordingly. It's an interview assistant for macOS and Windows with a web app. It listens to a live interview, drafts answers from your resume and the job description, and keeps a transcript and review afterward. It doesn't have a mock interview mode where an AI plays the interviewer, so for Warmup-style practice use one of the tools above. Pricing is per minute: $29.99 for 240 minutes, $59.99 for 600, and $99.99 for 1,200, with 30 free minutes for new accounts.
Check the rules first
Practice tools are the safest use of AI in the interview process. Using an assistant in a live interview or assessment is different, because many employers ban it and some ask you to confirm you won't. Read the instructions you were given before using any tool in a real interview.
Try YesToTheOffer with 30 free minutes
Pay only for the minutes you use. Answers from your resume, coding help from screenshots, and a review after. No subscription.
