Interview Coder began as a coding interview tool and is one of the more expensive in its category. Its site lists a free download, a $299-a-month plan, and an $799 lifetime plan. People look for alternatives mostly because of that price, and because they want help with the rest of an interview loop, not only the coding round.

This guide compares four alternatives with Interview Coder on price, billing, coding help, and platforms. Prices are from each vendor's pricing page and were checked on October 6, 2026. They change, so check before you buy. We make YesToTheOffer, which is one of the four.

What Interview Coder offers

Interview Coder is a desktop app for Windows and Mac. Its site lists these features:

  • Help with coding problems, including audio transcription of the interviewer's questions
  • A click-through overlay
  • Support for Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Amazon Chime
  • Support for coding platforms such as HackerRank, CoderPad, and Codility

The app is free to download. The AI features need a plan:

PlanPriceIncludes
Free download$0The app, without paid AI features
Monthly Pro$299 a month1,000 usage credits a month
Lifetime Pro$799 onceLifetime access

The site doesn't say how much one credit buys, so it's hard to turn 1,000 credits into hours of interview time. Ask before you pay.

Interview Coder also markets itself heavily on being hidden from screen sharing and process lists. That matters for rules: if an employer bans AI help, hiding a tool doesn't make the use allowed, and being caught can end an application. We cover this in the last section.

YesToTheOffer

It transcribes questions as the interviewer asks them and drafts answer points from your resume and the job description. In a coding round, you capture the problem from your screen and get an approach and code. After the interview, the transcript stays in the app and you get a review.

You buy minutes, not a plan. A session with live transcription counts at 1.0x, even with coding help on. Coding help on its own counts at 0.2x, so one minute of balance covers five minutes of screenshot help. New accounts get 30 free minutes. It doesn't have a resume builder or headshots.

Final Round AI

The widest prep suite of the four. It has practice interviews in several scenarios, including coding and system design, plus live help and automatic debriefs. Live sessions need an active Pro subscription and there's no free trial for them. See our Final Round AI alternatives for more.

LockedIn AI

A flat monthly price with interviews of up to two hours each, built around technical interviews. If you have several rounds a week, a flat rate is easy to plan around. We compare the two products in YesToTheOffer vs LockedIn AI.

Parakeet AI

Offers auto-answer, coding support, live transcription, mock interviews, and extras such as a resume maker and headshots. Our Parakeet AI review goes through its plans and credits.

What a month of coding interviews costs

Say you have four one-hour coding interviews in a month:

ToolCheapest way to cover 4 hours
YesToTheOffer$29.99 (240 minutes is exactly 4 hours)
Final Round AIFrom $25 for one month
LockedIn AI$54.99 for one month
Parakeet AI$97 with credits (3 credits for $59 plus 1 for $38)
Interview Coder$299 for one month

Interview Coder's monthly price is several times the others for a short search. The lifetime plan at $799 only makes sense if you expect to use it over a long period.

How to choose

  1. Count your interviews. Few interviews favor pay-per-minute or a one-month plan. Many favor a flat plan.
  2. Check whether you need more than coding. If you also face system design and behavioral rounds, look for resume-based answers and practice interviews.
  3. Check your computer. Some apps need a recent version of macOS.
  4. Try a mock interview first, using your actual microphone and screen setup.
  5. Read the employer's rules before any live interview.

Check the rules first

Employers decide whether AI tools are allowed, and many ban them in live coding rounds and online assessments. Some make you confirm that in writing. A tool that hides itself from screen sharing doesn't change what the rules say, and if you're found out, you can lose the offer and be flagged by the company.

The safest uses are practice and review. Do mock coding interviews with a tool, talk through your solutions aloud, and read your transcript to see where your explanation was thin. For free practice in the editor many employers use, see our guide to the CoderPad sandbox. Our coding interview assistant guide covers a preparation and review routine.
